Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas!
Soraya is seen here sporting her new pajamas from her Grammy in Jacksonville, FL. Soraya received some cool things this year...too numerous to mention but we want to thank everyone for their gifts to Soraya, Scott, and Alysse. Our new cat Bella wasn't left out of the mix...she received a new water dish and some cat toys. Soraya is holding one of them (a green mouse) in the picture.

Poppy (Scott's dad) came to visit us this year. We had a great time reading the Christmas story from the Bible on Christmas Eve. We opened one present each Christmas Eve and the rest on Christmas morning. We jammed out to some great Christmas tunes and ate cupcakes that we made for baby Jesus... Happy Birthday!

We hope you all had a great Christmas!  Merry Christmas!! Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas From The Watson Family

We dropped the ball (or Christmas ornament) this year with regard to mailing out Christmas cards. Sorry! So, here is our official 2008 Watson Family Christmas card! This is Soraya at her pre-school Christmas party! Can you believe this angel is 3 years old!

Scott, Alysse, Soraya, and now Bella (the cat) wish you and your family
Merry Christmas
and a super fine 2009!

Bella Update!

Bella had her sutures removed today (12/20/08). She was the best kitty through the entire 14 second procedure. Snip, snip , snip and done. She is doing well and playful as ever. After the vet tech was finished, Scott walked out of the Vet with Bella and didn't bother to stop off at the desk. After Scott had Bella in the car, one of the nurses came after Scott thinking he had forgot to pay! It turns out, there was no charge for the suture removal...just a mixup. Scott said he didn't think there was or should be a charge. Fortunately, there wasn't or Scott may have had to chat with a police officer.

Bob Barker reminding you...

SURGERY UPDATE

Bella (our new kitty) was spayed yesterday. She is under medications and doing very well. Yesterday, she was very lethargic after Scott brought her home. Today, she has resumed eating and playing a bit. We have to take her back in next week for suture removal.
What a strong kitty cat!

Gingerbread House

It's time for the annual Watson Family Gingerbread House. For the last couple of years, we have made a gingerbread house at Christmas. This year, Soraya began the festivities by helping Scott with the mixer beaters. Scott mixed together the white icing before actual construction began.

Soraya gladly consumed the leftover mixture!

And here we go...
Alysse asked Soraya if she wanted to smell a piece of the gingerbread...Soraya thought that was her cue to take a bite! Later, Soraya is seen eyeing the small candy beads for decoration. We repeatedly had to tell her "No eating of the candy!" After Alysse coated the rooftops with the snow (icing), Scott piped some snow (icing) into the joints, grooves, and other various portions of the house.

Alysse and Soraya can be seen detailing the gingerbread house with the candies before Soraya can eat them. By the way, Soraya did manage to sneak a few of the gumdrops! Throughout the
construction,
Soraya kept saying "Another yick! (lick)" She loves the icing!

Haircut!

First up today...time for a bang trim with Soraya. Alysse carefully trims as Soraya gets another lick of the lollypop. We have found that a lollypop is a key preoccupation tool during the haircut sessions. Careful there...

Soraya's Jiddo visit

We were excited to have Jiddo (Lebanese for Grandfather) and Aunt Leila in town at Thanksgiving! Alysse's father hadn't seen Soraya since last year. Obviously, living overseas in Beirut makes face time difficult. We had a blast while they were here for about 10 days. We had Thanksgiving dinner on Friday instead of Thursday. Even though the turkey caught fire in my rotisserie oven (finished in the standard oven), it was edible and delicious.

We took a drive to downtown New Bern, NC. It's about 30-45 minutes from Winterville. Famous author Nicholas Sparks has a home here. We took a stroll around the waterfront and the
downtown area. After lunch, we drove back home and rested. Soraya enjoyed running around the pavilion and gazebo.

We also decorated the family Christmas tree and hung lights outside. Scott and Jiddo (in a light
drizzle) climbed and clipped the lights on the gutters and roofline. Alysse, Leila, and Soraya hung ornaments on the tree. We always pick out a Hallmark ornament each year and this year we grabbed the two-story gingerbread house. It lights up...Scott really liked this! Each ornament is dated so we have something to remember each year. The tree and decorations look great! Now, keeping our new cat Bella away from it is another story!

The night before Jiddo and Leila left, we went to Red Lobster. Scott and Jiddo really enjoyed the crab legs! Soraya got her very own, super duper ice cream sundae! We think most of it wound up in her tummy...some never made it past her face! We all enjoyed the meal and the time together!!!

Hurry back!! HABIBO!!
